Continuous Ink System Mushroomed Beyond Poor Quality. Beware of Amateurs. PDF Print E-mail

We now see this industry growing in leaps and bounds. Everywhere you go you see a sign or a store that sells continuous ink system.

Sad to say not all people can just put up a store sign and start doing business with CIS.  Years of experience and the right setup can spell the quality for each store. Here are some things you should look up or ask the store before you have your printer converted.

1. What is the quality of the tube (hose) they are using.  Is it made of plastic or silicone. clear color tubes are plastic while opaque color tubes are silicone base. plastic hoses are not resilient. it does not bounce back to its original form thus forming a crease which impedes the ink travel. Silicon base hoses are bouncy and does not deform. ink travels faster and smoother. Affordaink uses silicon base hoses.

2. What is the design of the tank? is it straight or L shaped? A straight tank design is only good for some brand of printers not sensitive to liquid pressure while the L shape tank that Affordaink is using is specifically design to address the pressure of ink that is applied to the ink cartridges.  In an L shaped tank. the pressure is reduced by 50% thereby preventing leaks and overflow in the ink cartridges.  This is relatively important for printers like the canon and hp.

3. How will the tube travel from the cartridge to the outside tank? Can i still close the cover while printing?

Neophytes in the business would install the hose in your printer so awkwardly that you can not even close the cover of the printer because it gets in the way.  There is the right way of lining up the hose so it does not get in the way of the cover or the paper catch. Affordaink has been professionally installing cis the unique way where it does not get in the way of moving parts and it is very neat. No tangles no extra unnecessary bends.

4. Ask if the hoses have ink locks. These tiny inklocks saves you the hassle of overflow specially when travelling. Affordaink has this in every CIS. I saw one company that sells CIS put a tape to crimp the hoses. tsk tsk tsk.

5. Have you ever seen a CIS that looks like bottles of perfumes? If you have, these are so primitive. one twist of the cap and the hose is out of the bottle and you could not put it back. These are actually home made. they use your original Epson cartridges and attached the hose and connects to the perfume bottles. beware of this.

6. Ask about the capacity of the tank .some claims to have 100 ml for each color but if you suspect the tank to be small., chances are it is indeed small and it only contains 60 ml of ink. do not be shortchanged.

7. Affordaink has all kinds of CIS for all kinds of printers. others only have limited models. We have for foreign model printers and for big A3 size printers.

Please see our list. It has the biggest number of available CIS.
